Gerard Anthony

Gerard is not married. He is a parishioner at All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas, VA. Gerard is a religion/bioethics teacher at Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School.

Tom & Marilyn Grodek

Children: Four adult children, and eight grandchildren plus one more on the way.
Home Parish: Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Annandale, VA

Tom & Marilyn have been married for 34 years and dating for 41. They both hail from South Side Chicago, but have lived all over and have been in this Diocese and at Holy Spirit Parish since 1992. Following the U.S. Naval Academy, Tom was in the Navy for 20 years as a Surface Warfare Officer and Engineering Duty Officer. He has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering. Tom followed Navy retirementĚ with nine more years doing Navy contract engineering support. He then did a career shift and taught Physics and Math at Paul VI Catholic High School for two years, and shifted again to be the Director of Catholic Charities' St. Martin de Porres Senior Center for three years. Tom returned to teaching Science at PVI this Fall.

Marilyn has mostly been a stay-at-home mom and remains so, besides a recent part-time job, for the benefit of their 32-year old daughter Maureen. Maureen has profound intellectual disabilities, lives at home with Tom & Marilyn, and attends a great day program. Their oldest daughter Bridget and her husband Jim live nearby in St. Raymond Penafort Parish, and they have five little girls and a baby due next year. Their son Tom and his wife Diane have a boy and a girl out in Austin,Texas. And their youngest Steve is a Marine infantry officer who this year returned from Afghanistan and had a baby boy with his wife Christine.

Tom has kept himself busy in many Church ministries over the years, and with many volunteer activities at church and in the disabilities community. At Holy Spirit, Tom is currently a lector, a co-leader in a new ministry group for the homebound and the bereaved, an occasional adult religious education student, and active in the Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus.

Mark & Renee Maines

Children: Cassie and Suzie
Home Parish: Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Winchester, VA

Mark was born in Middletown, Ohio and joined the Church in 1997 while He and his wife Renee were waiting to bring the first of their two daughters home from China. After spending 20 years in the Navy, Mark retired and is now in his 11th year of teaching high school math at Potomac Falls High School in Sterling, VA.

Mark met Renee at the University of Dayton. She was born in Latrobe, PA. They have been married for 29 years. Renee works part time as the Business Manager at Belle Grove Plantation, in Middletown, VA. Their two daughters are Cassie, a junior at Millbrook HS and Suzie an 8th grader at Admiral Byrd Middle School.

Mike & Dale O'Neill

Children: Daniel, Benjamin, Matt, Samuel, and Hannah
Home Parish: Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA

Mike works as a Sales Executive, Ultra Distributors, and Dale is a fultime Mom and volunteer. Mike is involved in Youth Ministry. Both Mike and Dale are involved with Christ House and the serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at their parish. Dale also works with Meals on Wheels.

Mike and Dale have 5 children: Daniel is married to Molly living in Austin, TX, with two sons: William (3), Miles (8 months), Benjamin (engaged to Martha, Oct ’13 wedding planned), Matt (working at Fish & Wildlife Service), Samuel (Jr at Christopher Newport University), and Hannah (Sr at West Potomac High School).

Tim & Stephanie Slayter

Home Parish: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manassas, VA

Tim works for Fairfax County Public Schools as an elementary school principal. Stephanie home-schools full time their two children Noah, who is 10 and Josie who is 8. Tim and Steph met during their undergraduate years at St. Mary's College of Maryland and have been married for 15 years. The Slayter family resides in Montclair, VA and are parishioners at Sacred Heart (Manassas).
